Classroom Updates
Mrs. Rubino: Room 2 Things
have been running increasingly smoother in room 2. I am getting used to the primary program, and the students are getting
used to new systems and procedures. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Miss. Christiansen: Room 1 I am having a great time teaching “Picturing America” and doing art projects with the students! Everyone
is really enjoying Picturing America. This week we are learning about Emanuel Leutze’s “Washington Crossing the
Delaware.” I am really amazed by everyone’s receptiveness to this art appreciation class. They are super smart
kids! Last Friday our art project was Pipe Cleaner Creatures.
Everyone had a blast! This week we are going to make homemade quicksand! We are also reading The Great Glass Elevator
by Roald Dahl. It’s a hilarious sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. At the end of each chapter I ask
them questions and everyone answers them with no hesitation. They really enjoy this story! Well, I am so excited to be working
at Shiloh with these awesome, unique students!

January 19th Newsletter
Administrative Notes Welcome Miss
Christiansen! Beginning
next week Miss Christiansen will be including a small section in the newsletter.
upcoming events:
Museum Field Trip: We will be going to the Mountain Home museum to learn
more about the history of our local area. We will not need parent drivers because we will be able to walk to the museum as
it is only a few blocks away. This field trip has been moved to the 28th because the weather report for the 21st
did not look favorable for walking. Please pick up your child at the museum at normal release time. Permission slips for the
field trip will go home tomorrow.
Library Day:Our next library day will be Monday, January 25th.
Check-In:Please remember to always check in with the office prior to entering the classroom. If you have
already spoken with me in the morning regarding an early pick-up you do not need to check in at the office first. Otherwise,
please stop in at the office first.
Jeans
Day:I will try my best
to inform you prior to Friday if your child does not have Jeans Day. If I do not speak with you or e-mail you; you may assume
your child does have Jeans Day. Please remember that a newsletter response needs to be in by Thursday of the following week.
Thank You!:I want to send a GIANT thank you to PTFS for providing me with a brand new computer and grading
software. I am utilizing it every single day! Thanks again!
Classroom Updates
Mrs. Rubino: Room 2
I have a couple of tidbits for this week. First, I would like to remind
you that all reading homework needs to be done aloud. When your child reads aloud you can catch mistakes that he or she is
making.
The “Three
Strikes” system is back in place. Students receive a check for talking in class or other behavior issues. Three checks
will result in a loss of 15 minutes of morning recess. If a student receives five checks in a day, he or she will stay in
for an entire morning recess and write a note home about why he or she needed to stay in for recess. Any more than 5 checks
will result in detention. This system allows students to learn from their mistakes before major disciplinary action is taken.
Please contact me if you have questions or concerns regarding this system.

Library day
It
may seem that we just made a library trip, but our books are coming due. We will be finishing the week with a walk to the
library on Friday afternoon, January 8th. Please be sure your student brings their library card and plan to pick them up at
the library at our regularly scheduled time.
Technical Difficulties:
Our newsletter response link at the bottom of the page is not working
correctly. Please send a regular email to Mrs. Hamilton at office@shilohchristianschool.net and it will be forwarded. You
can also inform your student’s teacher when you drop them off in the morning that you have read the newsletter. It is
important for your child that we receive this information so that they can enjoy the privilege of Jeans Day on January 15th.
