Classroom Updates, Administrative NotesMay 30th Newsletter Classroom Updates
Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Well today is the final
day for me with Graduation!!! This year has been an amazing ride and I just want to start by thanking all
of my parents and volunteers for everything they have done to help us throughout the year! It has been
an amazing year of change an growth for me and I have so enjoyed watching your students change and grow in new leaps and bounds.
Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3
This has been a wonderful year full of exciting
new changes. I want to thank you parents for all that you have done to support your children. It really does make a huge difference
for us all. I also want to thank the volunteers who spent countless hours in my classroom helping me. I am truly appreciative
of every little bit of help that was given. Seniors, I am so sorry that I
will not be at your graduation. My cousin has a wedding and since nearly every single one of my relatives came to my wedding,
I need to go. J You guys are awesome and will succeed in anything you put
your mind to. Thank you for all you have done to help me out…especially with chores! A special thank you to Kara for
being a great teacher’s assistant this year. You were an amazing help and I appreciate all of the time you spent helping
out.I wish everyone a fun-filled summer!
Mrs.
Lawrence: Room 3 I
can’t believe how fast the year has past! Seems like only a few weeks ago that we were starting the new school year.
My students have grown and learned so much this year. I hope they had an enjoyable school year. It was an honor to teach your
children this year. I want to thank all the parents who came in to sub, help with art, donate their time, and buy supplies
for our school. We couldn’t have done it without your support! I wish everyone a safe, fun, and happy summer!!
Administrative Notes

Classroom Updates, Administrative NotesMay 21st Newsletter Classroom Updates
Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Finals are going well so far and I am really
happy with what I have seen!
A quick reminder to parents about a few early releases coming up. Remember that on Wednesdays we are still
doing our 2:45 release. Also this Friday, May 22 we will have a 1:30pm release for the
Memorial Day weekend. There is no school on Monday May 25 due to Memorial Day.
We will be doing another 1:30 release on Friday, May 29 as it is the last day of school (HURRAY)!!!
Please mark these dates down on your calendar. Also the last week of school will be a JEANS
DAY WEEK due to all the activities we have going on during that week. The “Administrative
Notes” section details all our upcoming events but I wanted to let you know what the plan is for students next week
as well. Though this may not sound like a lot the students will be busy all week (and I am praying we get
everything done by Friday so our teachers don’t have to spend extra, unpaid hours during the summer taking care of other
items).
Monday: No School
Tuesday: Deep cleaning Rooms #1-#3 and the kitchen, finish painting the trim in Room #2
Wednesday: Work on any makeups, Finish deep cleaning if needed, Work on a few organizational projects,
Teachers will be working on grades Thursday:
Car Wash and Bake Sale (10:00-2:00) for students with a permission slip, Finish any makeups and cleaning projects
Friday: Locker and bin cleaning and checkout, Finish any remaining items,
Send home grades, End of the Year BBQ (12:00-1:30). Finally don’t forget that tomorrow is our
last HOT LUNCH!!! So if your student would like grilled cheese they need to remember to
bring their $2.00. Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3 Finals are going well but it looks like we might have a couple of retakes next week so make sure your student studies
tonight and over the weekend if they have another test to finish. Also
for Kindergarten graduation: If you would like your child to keep his or her cap and tassel we need their $12 by Wednesday.
If you do not wish to keep the cap and tassel, the school will keep them for future graduates. Also, I was thinking that it
would be nice to conclude our ceremony with some snacks and/or cake. If you could bring a snack of some sort, that would be
great. Let me know if you plan on bringing something. In the program it would be neat if parents could say a few words to
their graduate. If you would like to do this, let me know and I will put it in to the program. You can either speak to your
child in front of the audience at the ceremony or include a message to him or her in the program. Finally, I would like a
headcount of how many guests you are planning to bring. This should be a nice end of the year for your children! Thanks for
all you have done to make their first year of school a success.
On a final note I will not be at school tomorrow or Tuesday so please feel free to contact Mrs. Colwell or Mrs. Lawrence while
I am gone if you need anything!
Mrs.
Lawrence: Room 3 Mrs.
Lawrence was out today but it sounds like finals are going well!!! Mrs. Lawrence will be the teacher heading
up the Cleaning Day on Tuesday as I will not be here until about 9:15am so make sure to see her when you come in on Tuesday
morning to help!
Administrative Notes
Mrs. Colwell: Principal Please remember
that I need everyone to pay for his or her sweatshirts this week if you haven’t. I have already paid for
the group of them personally so that they will be here by the end of school so I would really appreciate getting the rest
of the money in as soon as possible. Also if you would like a yearbook we need those pre-ordered and paid for
by the end of the year (which is coming up quick)! Well next week
is a big week so let me give you a quick run down on what we have planned!!!
*Crazy Days: Saturday May 23
and Sunday 24
Due to the fact that we had very few people sign up to help with the event we will be forgoing Crazy Days this year
and I will be making rounds to all the churches with our information this summer instead.
*Parent/Teacher Work Day: Tuesday May 26 (8:00am-3:00pm)
This will be a Jeans Day attire event and we could use all the help we can get!!! This will be our
big deep cleaning day and we have a bit of painting to do as well.
*Car Wash & Bake Sale:
May 28 (this is a PTFS event)
For all students who have permission slips to attend this event we will be running a fundraiser from 10:00-2:00.
This will be a really fun event and incredibly beneficial for the school so come out and have some fun with us!!!
Also students should pack a lunch.
*End of the Year BBQ: May 29
(also a PTFS event)
Everyone is invited to come and have lunch with us on the last day of school as we celebrate the end of the year!!!
Please contact Amanda Fitzgerald or Dawnita Paslay if you can bring something. You can do this by
putting in a comment on the PTFS page of our website! We already have hotdogs and hamburgers with buns
but need other items for the lunch.
*Kindergarten Graduation: May
28
Please come out at 7:00pm to support and celebrate with our Kindergarteners as they finish up their first year of school!
*Graduation: May 30
Our seniors will be saying goodbye to Shiloh at 3:30pm with a reception to follow. Please know you
are all invited and we would love to see you there to show your support for our graduates!
Also I am still looking for several parents, teachers, board members, and/or students to help me clean up at 7:00pm
from this event. My husband will be there to help but being pregnant I will need a few more people so he
doesn’t end up doing most everything. If you could help for just 30-45 minutes please let me know!

“From the Teachers” Classroom Updates, Administrative NotesMay 14th Newsletter Classroom Updates Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Yesterday we had an AWESOME time at the ice caves!!! Another reminder about Tardies
as several of my students have hit or are quickly approaching their 3 Tardies for the 4th Quarter.
Remember that 3 Tardies does result in a detention.
On a brighter note the end of the year is in site and every student in Room 2 has received
a tracking sheet of all the tasks they have remaining for the year. You may want to check with you student
to make sure they are working through this sheet. Several of the tasks are independent project assignments
that they need to be responsible to stay on top of (Persuasive Speech, Essays, Practice Exercises, Oral Verse Quizzes). Next week we will be taking all
of our finals and all assignments have to be initially turned in by Friday the 22nd so we have time to do any corrections
or retakes the last week of school. All the students seem fairly on track but everyone still has a lot
to do as well to finish up for the year. Finals are comprehensive and cover all the material the students
have learned throughout the year so these are very big tests that count as a large part of their grade. Make
sure to remind your student to STUDY!!! Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3 Things are moving along very quickly at school.
Thank you for all you have done to help your children study for their tests and quizzes. Please continue to do so during the
next couple of weeks as finals are approaching. Teacher Appreciation week was awesome! Thank you to the parents
and students for the cards and kind words. Thank you to Mrs. Colwell for getting us those neat bags! Thank you everyone. J A note about Kindergarten graduation: If you would like your child to keep his
or her cap and tassel it will be $12. If you do not wish to keep the cap and tassel, the school will keep them for future
graduates. Also, I was thinking that it would be nice to conclude our ceremony with some snacks and/or cake. If you could
bring a snack of some sort, that would be great. Let me know if you plan on bringing something. In the program it would be
neat if parents could say a few words to their graduate. If you would like to do this, let me know and I will put it in to
the program. You can either speak to your child in front of the audience at the ceremony or include a message to him or her
in the program. Finally, I would like a headcount of how many guests you are planning to bring. This should be a nice end
of the year for your children! Thanks for all you have done to make their first year of school a success.
Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3 Hello everyone! The end of the year is coming quickly!
This coming week the students will be taking their last tests and finals. Please make sure they are studying. These last grades
really count. Monday through Thursday of next week is when all of the students will be taking their tests. Friday will be
a make up day if they were absent or if they need to retake a test. Teacher Appreciation week was wonderful. Thank you parents
for the cards and warm words. Have a wonderful weekend!
Administrative Notes Mrs. Colwell: Principal Please remember
that the sweatshirt pre-order deadline is tomorrow and I have noticed that several students who have earned free sweatshirts
have still not ordered theirs so please make sure to get your order in by tomorrow if you want one.
We have several events coming up at the end of the year. Please let me know if you can help with
any of the following. I will not be able to do quite as much as normal on all of these events so any help
you could provide would be so greatly appreciated. If you can only be there for part of an event that would
be great as well!
*Crazy Days: Saturday May 23 and Sunday 24
*Parent/Teacher Work Day: Tuesday May 26 (8:00am-3:00pm)
*Car Wash & Bake Sale: May 28 (this
is a PTFS event)
*End of the Year BBQ: May 29 (also a PTFS event)
*Graduation: May 30
-I need a group of people to help from
7:00-8:00 for cleanup
-I may need some help with setup but
am not quite sure yet. PFS: Parents-Teachers For Shiloh
As Mrs. Colwell mentioned please let us know if you can help with the Car Wash & Bake Sale on Thursday May 28,
the BBQ on May 29, and Graduation on May 30. These are PTFS sponsored events so if you are available we
would really appreciate your participation.

“From the Teachers”
Classroom Updates, Administrative NotesMay 7th Newsletter Classroom Updates
Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Progress Reports came
out for Room 2 today so make sure you are looking for these from you student.
Also we have launched our “School Store” this week so you can
pre-order Shiloh Sweatshirts as well as 2008-2009 Shiloh Yearbooks. Please make sure to check our website
out for that information AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as there are ordering deadlines for these items.
Tardies have been getting a little slack lately with many of my high school students and remember
that 3 Tardies results in a detention so you may want to talk with you student about this as well.
Also, tomorrow is our big TEACHER APPRECIATION CELEBRATION during lunch so if you would
like to come and participate we would love to see you there! Remember that
next Wednesday is our Shoshone Ice Caves trip so make sure your student has their permission slip in and any parent drivers
would be greatly appreciated!!! Admission is $2.00 per person.
Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3
Good news…..ISAT testing is over! As of Thursday we have finished testing for all students. On Wednesday I took
the students to Paul’s for a doughnut of their choice as a reward for all the extra hard work they put in this week.
Preliminary scores will be distributed tomorrow while final scores will be sent in the summer (most likely June or
July).
The Zoo trip was awesome! Everyone had a wonderful time, and I want to say a big THANK YOU to all parents who drove
and chaperoned. I am looking forward to our next field trip! Progress reports went home Wednesday
and Thursday. Please mark if you would like a teacher conference or not and return the bottom portion. Thanks!
Finally, these next two weeks are going to be very full with tests, quizzes, and final exams. For most subjects final
exams cover all material that the students have learned since the beginning of the year. It would be a good idea to be reviewing
with your child every night on key concepts. As much as possible a review sheet will come home for each final exam. Please
make sure that you see these and review with your student. I will do my best to work with students in class, but the time
we spend in school will not be enough studying time to prepare. Let me know if you have any questions about a particular exam.
Thanks!
Mrs. Lawrence: Room
3
Hello everyone! This week has been a little crazy with the ISAT testing! My students who took the tests have been working
really hard to catch up on the work they missed so give them some praise at home! Progress reports are coming out this week.
I also will be sending some extra credit work home for those who need it. Please if your student has any extra credit work
sent home with them have them complete it ASAP so I can grade it. Have a wonderful weekend!
Administrative Notes Mrs. Colwell: Principal
Parent Work Day: I just wanted to put out there that on Tuesday May 26 Shiloh
will be having a Parent Work Day to try and help get things cleaned up for this year and ready for next. If
you could participate in this event please let me know. We could really use the extra help and I know the
students would be grateful!!! Field Trips:
Make sure your student’s permission slips are in for the following…
Wednesday May 13: Shoshone Ice Caves
(pink form)
Thursday May 28: Car Wash & Bake Sale (blue form)
Crazy Days: Remember that on May 23rd we have Crazy Days coming up so
if you would like to help the teachers in this event please let me know.
Sweatshirts: You can now pre-order your sweatshirts online at our “School
Store”. Yearbooks:
You can now pre-order your 2008-2009 yearbook online at our “School Store”.
Headphones: If your child needs to
purchase a pair of replacement headphones we do have some 9 ft, volume adjusting headphones available for purchase for $12.00.
These will be the headphones your student gets for free at the beginning of next year. We just thought
that keeping this at the school might make replacing headphones a little easier for parents when needed.
