Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Well
today we are all off to the Zoo and pretty excited about it! All of my students are currently
working on their last speech. This persuasive speech is a large part of their grade and will take several
weeks to prepare for, so make sure you are talking with your student about this subject and they are staying on top of getting
all their information ready to go.
Again I have a lot more information under the “Administration” section so please make sure to check that out.
Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3 Hello
All! Today, Thursday, is the field trip to the zoo! Please remember to bring $2 per person. I need to pay for all chaperones
and students at once in order to get this extremely discounted school rate. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to drive!
We truly appreciate it and hope you have an awesome time at the zoo. Tomorrow
(Friday) is “Western Day” for Kindergarten. They may wear jeans, a cowboy hat, and plaid shirt if they would like.
It should be fun!
Finally, students who are taking the ISAT need to be at school ready to go at 8 AM. They will be transported to Mountain
Home Junior High by teachers and/or Mrs. Hamilton. Instead of signing a permission slip please send me a short e-mail giving
your student permission to be transported by teacher/Mrs. Hamilton to the junior high and to be supervised by me at the junior
high. Thank you!Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Lawrence: Room

Hello everyone! This week we did a “double-up” week in my class. It went great! I am so proud of how everyone
worked so hard to get their classes done. Give your students some praise for their hard work this week. The only other little
update I have is for my first graders. They took their last Bible verse grade Wednesday! The rest of their year will be a
review of all the verses they learned. Thanks so much for working with them all this year to learn those verses! Have a great
weekend!
Administrative Notes Mrs. Colwell: Principal
Field Trips: We still have a couple of trips coming up this year
so if you can drive for the caving trip please let me know.
Wednesday May 13: Shoshone Ice Caves
(pink form)
Thursday May 28: Car Wash & Bake Sale (blue form)
Crazy Days: Remember that on May 23rd we have Crazy Days coming up so
if you would like to help the teachers in this event please let me know.
Sweatshirts: I almost have these order forms ready to go so be looking for them
to come out tomorrow or next week. The logo on the back of the shirts is posted below.
Yearbooks: I will also be sending home forms to pre-order yearbooks in the next
several weeks. These will also indicate how much your student earned towards this item from our Fall Fundraiser. Headphones:
If your child needs to purchase a pair of replacement headphones we do have some 9 ft, volume adjusting headphones
available for purchase for $12.00. These will be the headphones your student gets for free at the beginning
of next year. We just thought that keeping this at the school might make replacing headphones a little
easier for parents when needed. PFS:

PFS has their next meeting coming up on Monday at 6:00pm so make sure and try to be there!!!

Mrs. Colwell: Room 2
WOW! Well this next 5 weeks are going to be a whirlwind!!!
We have so many things going on! The first thing I would like to ask is that you please keep checking our website (especially
the “Events Calendar” page) for all the upcoming events that are happening. Most of my items
are administrative so PLEASE make sure to read that section below!
I did send home updated report cards with my students yesterday that included their speech
grade.
Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3
Hello All! I have just a few reminders
and updates this week. The first regards the zoo trip. I have received several permission slips so far and have 2 drivers.
If there are any other parents who would like to drive please let me know as soon as possible so I can know if I need to make
alternate arrangements. Also, if you could have your admission money in by next Monday that would be awesome.
Kindergarten graduation caps and tassels
have been ordered. Your student can keep their cap/tassel for $12 but otherwise the school will be keeping them for future
kindergarten students. From now on the parents who are providing a hot lunch will collect lunch money
as the students go through line. They have decided to do it this way so that the teachers don’t have to collect it during
school hours. The new dismissal policy is working great. Thank you for being patient with us
and helping us make this a success. It has really cut down on the noise in front of church offices. Thanks!
Next Friday is “Western Day”
for Kindergarten. They may wear jeans and a cowboy hat if they would like to. I might even wear one! Hee hee.
Finally, the weather has been awesome
the last few days. I have noticed that my very fair skin has been getting a bit toasted during break and recess even with
sunscreen. Thus, it would probably be a good idea to put sunscreen on your child before he or she comes to school if they
burn easily. Unfortunately for legality reasons we can’t administer sunscreen due to possible student allergies. Thank you for everything you do to support your student’s academic success!
Mrs. Lawrence: Room
3 Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week! Next week on Thursday
is our zoo trip! I am excited and hope the students are too. If you can help with driving please let Mrs. Rubino or myself
know. With the zoo trip next week we will do what I call doubling up. That means we are going to do 5 days of work in 4 school
days. Students may have less seatwork during this next week so we can focus more on classes. I just wanted
to give you a heads up. If you have any questions you can call me. Have a great weekend! Administrative Notes
Mrs. Colwell: Principal
Field Trips: I have listed the three field trips we have happing before the end
of the year below. You student should have brought home a packet this week with all three of these permission
slips. If we could have you return those as soon as possible it would really help us in planning for these
events.
Thursday April 30: Zoo Boise (purple
form)
Wednesday May 13: Shoshone Ice Caves
(pink form)
Thursday May 28: Car Wash & Bake Sale (blue form)
Also last week I sent home a questionnaire about which students would be returning next year.
I told all of the students that we wanted those back by tomorrow if at all possible. Please feel
free to be totally honest as we are looking for accurate feedback on these.
Also please mark down our Kindergarten Graduation on Thursday May 28th at 7:00pm and also
our High School Graduation on Saturday May 30th at 3:30pm. All parents are
invited to both of these events and we welcome you to come and join us for these great celebrations. The
parents of our seniors do need a little help with setup and takedown on the 30th. PFS has agreed
to help organize this, so if you would like to help these families and the school during this event please let one of our
PFS leaders know! Crazy Days:
This year Crazy Days will be held on May 23rd. This is a great event for the community
to see what we have to offer. The teachers will be organizing this event this year. We
are planning on doing free face painting and handing out water. At our booth we will have our new signs,
application packets, brochures, and business cards available. If you would like to be involved in this
event please let me know! Sweatshirts:
I have gotten the sweatshirts almost ready to order and will be sending a form home with your student next week as
to home much their earned towards this item during our Fall Fundraiser. The graphic on the back of the
shirt is attached at the bottom of this newsletter for you to see. We are getting light blue zip-up hoodies
with the below graphic on the back and “Shiloh” on the front.
Yearbooks: I will also be sending home forms to pre-order yearbooks in the next
several weeks. These will also indicate how much your student earned towards this item from our Fall Fundraiser. Don’t
forget that tomorrow’s hot lunch is “Make Your Own Sub Sandwich” so make sure your student has their $2.00
with them tomorrow. PFS: Parents-Teachers For Shiloh
Besides the flyer for the upcoming PFS meeting on May 4th you should have also received
a flyer about the Car Wash & Bake Sale event happening during school on Thursday May 28th.
The PFS is doing a lot of great things for the school so please make sure you check out their page on our website and
mark down the meeting on your calendar!

Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 We have a couple of field trips coming up for the entire school. Zoo Boise will be on Thursday
April 30. You should be getting permission slips sent home soon and Mrs. Rubino is organizing rides for
this so make sure to contact her. Also we are going to be doing a caving trip at Shoshone Ice Caves on
Wednesday May 13 so look for more information on that coming soon.
I need to remind my parents that I am having a really hard time keeping track of excused
absences due to the fact that I rarely get a note or phone call from parents for my students who have driver’s licenses.
If you could please make sure to send a signed note with your student…
1. to specify if they need to leave early
2. and when they return from an absence I didn’t previously have a note for.
Finally I would encourage each of you to at least come to the PFS meeting that is scheduled
for May 4th if only for informational purposes. The PFS is planning several events before school
is out and I know that all of you would like to hear about and possibly be involved in these events. Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3
Hello All! The year is quickly coming to a close, which means lots of events. The two that I would like to remind you
of are the Zoo trip on Thursday, April 30th and the ISAT testing starting on May 4th. So far I
know that the zoo trip will cost $2.00 per person and each student will need to bring a sack lunch. For now I need a list
of people who would like to drive for this event. We will need several drivers, as this is a whole-school event. Please let
me know as soon as possible if you would like to drive or to just come along and have fun with us so I can make the reservation
with the zoo. ISAT testing is quickly approaching. I need all students to pay
for their tests and have their parents respond to the e-mail I sent out on Tuesday by TOMORROW. Thanks! We also have a new end-of-day release routine. Unfortunately
we haven’t been able to fully explain it yet. This has lead to a bit of confusion for parents. I am very sorry about
that. At the end of the day, because it gets very noisy and crowded right outside room 3 and because this is right outside
Mr. Ring and Pastor’s offices, we have decided to dismiss the kiddos from the foyer (area right in front of the sanctuary).
As soon as I dismiss students they will be sent to wait in the foyer. Mrs. Colwell will be waiting with them in the foyer
and have the door open for parents at 3:10 each day (and 2:35 on Wednesdays). We would ask that you wait to enter the building
until she opens the door so we don’t have more congestion in the hallway while the kids are gathering all their stuff
to go home. When she sees your vehicle, she will dismiss you child. I am hoping that
this new routine will help make dismissal go a bit smoother for you and for me and that it will help make the environment
a bit quieter for working church members. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
As a quick reminder, please make sure that primary students have an extra set of clothes in their lockers for accidents.
Thanks!
Finally, I just want to say thank you to all the parents involved in Parents-Teachers for Shiloh. I am excited about
all that you are planning to do for the school. We so appreciate you!
Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3 Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week and that you had a wonderful Easter Sunday.
Last week I did “bin checks” in our classroom. The bins were full of OLD work, broken crayons, and torn up pieces
of paper. I am going to be on them a little bit more about being tidy. If you have noticed your student not bring home their
work ask them to check their bin! ;) Have a wonderful weekend! Administrative Notes

Just another reminder that for the rest of the year Wednesday’s will be an early release day at 2:45 because
of our new detention system (this started on March 30th). If you are unable to pick up your
student at that time just let us know and we will have study hall time for all students who need to stay until 3:20.
We have made a lot of updates to the website recently so make sure to take some time and explore that a little.
There is a lot of information and many opportunities for parents and students through this resource so be sure to keep
checking it out regularly. *****Another reminder
that our 2009-2010 Student Handbook, Student Application, School Calendar, and Tuition Schedule are now accessible on our
web site at the bottom of the “Admissions” page. If you have any questions on some of the changes
we are making for next year please let me know and I can go over those with you!***** Don’t forget that
tomorrow’s hot lunch is Spaghetti and garlic bread so make sure, if your student signed up for hot lunch this week,
that they have their $2.00 with them tomorrow. Also all scheduled hot lunches are now posted on the website
in our Events Calendar for you to see! PFS: Parents-Teachers For Shiloh
You all should have gotten a flyer on Tuesday about the upcoming PFS meeting on Monday May
4th. PFS has already scheduled several events (especially during the last week of school) and
we will be working on more during this meeting. Please mark your calendars and also be sure to check our
page on the website for more information about what PFS is doing.

Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Well Spring Break was fabulous and I had a great time up north with my family!
Report cards for Room 2 should be going home tomorrow if everything works smoothly and Monday at the latest. This
version will not have their Speech grade on it but I will send another one out as soon as the Speeches have been completed
for the technical 3rd Quarter time frame. The kids are doing really well and I am very proud
of them.
We are going to try and plan a field trip to Zoo Boise for the entire school towards the end of April so that should be a
lot of fun. I will keep you all updated! Finally on a personal note Josh and I found out this week that we are going to be having a baby boy
so that was pretty exciting! Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3 On Wednesday
I presented awards to Book-It readers who had met their goals for 5 out of 6 or 6 out of 6 months. We had one first grader
who met his goal all 6 months so he is an “All Star Reader!” I am really happy with the success of the Book-It
program. I have noticed an improvement in participants’ reading, which is a testament to the hours of dedicated time
that you parents have spent with your children. Thank you so much for participating and supporting this program. I look forward
to continuing the program next year. Yay! An
important piece of information that all 3rd-8th-grade parents need to know about is the Idaho Standard
Achievement Test (ISAT). This test is the state’s
way of assessing whether or not students are meeting grade-level expectations. Students 3rd, 4th, 6th,
and 8th grade can participate. For all students but 5th grade the test will cost
$18. For the 5th graders, it will cost $24 (due to one extra test). This is not required for your student but would
give you a good benchmark of where your child is compared to other Idaho students. Each section of the
test will be taken on a separate day and our scheduled window of time is May 4th-7th. The tests are
conducted on computers at MHJH. What I need from all parents is a response as
to whether or not you would like your child to be tested.
I need this answer as soon as possible as I am interfacing with the ISAT coordinator. In addition, if your student is going to take the test, please make a check
out to the Mountain Home School District and bring it in to me. I will be taking all student funds to the ISAT coordinator.
Thank you so much.
Report cards went out this week so if you would like a conference, please contact me through e-mail. Have a great rest
of the week and my favorite….WEEKEND! J
Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3
Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful
spring break! I just have a few quick updates. It is report card time! I should have them out on Thursday.
Please sign and return them to me the next day. If all students bring the report cards back within 2 school days I will give
the students a little treat.
One last thing the ladies Bible study is over! We have our access back to the fellowship hall on Wednesday’s so students
will not need to bring their coats and snacks to class. Have a great rest of the week! Administrative Notes
Mrs. Colwell:
Principal
Well this week we started our new detention system as well as our Wednesday 2:45 pm release.
This also makes Jeans Day easier to manage and HURRAY ALL OF OUR KIDS EARNED JEANS DAY THIS WEEK!!!

We would love to see you all there! The phone is up

so long. *****As a big new plus I wanted to
let you all know that our 2009-2010 Student Handbook, Student Application, School Calendar, and Tuition Schedule are now accessible
on our web site at the bottom of the “Admissions” page. If you have any questions on some of
the changes we are making for next year please let me know and I can go over those with you!*****
