Classroom Updates Mrs Colwell: Room
2
Pennies for Patients was a huge success with the school
raising over $200 in change!!! Today Mrs. Lawrence was picked to get “pied” by the winning team. That team brought
in over $100 on their own!
Room 2 has gone through some great changes this week as we now have Ms. Valeska on board in the mornings! She is great
with the kids and they seem to be doing really well! It has been a huge blessing for me as I feel much better in the afternoons
and am able to get more done during this time.
Hope everyone has a GREAT spring break and we will see you when you get back!!
Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 and Room 3 Spring Break has finally arrived.
I am excited for tomorrow as the 3rd-6th grade students will be going to the Idaho historical museum
in Boise for a fun field trip. Please remember, if you haven’t already done so, to bring in your child’s field
trip money. A big thank you to Mrs. Hieb and Mrs. Groggett who will be driving and chaperoning for the trip. Please
remind your child to be studying for upcoming exams and reading for Book-It over spring break. Other than that I can’t
think of anything else too important. Be checking your e-mail often as I often send quick updates through e-mail. Thanks!
Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3
Hello everyone! Spring break is almost here. I know the kids are super excited! Friday for the first grade and Kindergartners
we are going to have a fun day! I have a day of playtime singing and a fun surprise planned for them. Please still have them
bring a snack for break time. Have a fun and safe break! Administrative Notes Mrs. Colwell:
principal Remember
our 1:30 release tomorrow for spring break!
We also start our new detention system when we get back, along with our 2:45 release on Wednesday. All parents received
a detailed e-mail on this new policy on Monday night so feel free to contact me with any questions! Our
first PTA planning meeting is scheduled for Monday April 6th at 6:00 PM so be sure to plan that into your April
schedule.
***As a new big plus I wanted to let you all know that our 2009-2010 Student Handbook, Student Application, School
Calendar, and Tuition Schedule are now available on our web site at the bottom of the “Admissions” page. If you
have any questions on some of the changes we are making for next year please let me know and I can go over those with you!***
Mrs. Hamilton: secretary
and board member
If you could bring in all empty/used printer cartridges from home, work, or friends Mr. Ring can turn them in for extra
cash and supplies for the school. Thanks!

“From the Teachers” Classroom Updates, Administrative
Notes March 12th newsletter Classroom Updates
Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Pennies for Patients
is going great this week! The kids seem really excited about donating and tomorrow is hat day!
Even if your child does not earn Jeans Day they can still wear a hat in support for children with Cancer.
Monday we will be celebrating “π Day” or as we like to call it “Pie Day”!!! March
14th (3/14) is over the weekend and as the crazy math teacher I always like to celebrate this fun day!
To heighten the festivities we are going to have a teacher pied in the face on Monday at lunch. Whichever
team donates the most money for Pennies for Patients gets to choose which teacher they would like to pie in the face!!!
We will also be having a little pie during lunch so feel free to come by at 12:00 and join us in the fun!!!
Don’t forget that next week is the last week before Spring Break. Because the end of 3rd
Quarter falls on different days for different classes in A Beka we will do all we can to get 3rd Quarter report
cards out right before Spring Break but if their classes go a little beyond that lesson we will be putting these out when
the students get back from break. Make sure to remind your student to study for the tests they have
coming up!!! Finally I would like to mention that we will have
a new teacher joining the ranks next week in Room 2. Her name is Wanda Valeska, she has almost 30 years of teaching
under her belt, and I think she is going to be a great new addition to our team here at Shiloh. We have hired Ms. Valeska
to help supliment in my classroom as my doctors (and husband) are still insistant about me keeping a limited schedule until
I start feeling a little better. Ms. Valeska will be starting Monday morning and I will be at the school in the afternoons.
Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3
Mrs. Rubino is very sick today and will be gone tomorrow as well. We have had most of our school come down
with a high fever accompanied by cold or flu like symptoms in the last several weeks. We are cleaning like
crazy and using all the Germ-X we can so hopefully we can curb the spread of this.
She wanted to remind everyone that field trip money is due by this Tuesday (17th).
Also March is the last month for Book-It so make sure to encourage your child to take advantage of this great program!
Reading with M Flight was a huge success yesterday!!!
The airmen were very excited to read to the kiddos and the students enjoyed their special time together.
Finally Mrs. McMullen will be doing PE time for those
students caught up on their work on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-3:00 in the afternoon. Please make
sure to have you student wear appropriate shoes and no skirts for these days so they can enjoy themselves fully!
Mrs. Lawrence: Room
3 Just remember that 3rd Quarter is coming up
next week so students need to make sure they are studying and ready for the quizzes and tests they have to take before
they leave for a wonderful week of fun!!!
Administrative
Notes
Mrs. Colwell: Principal
Don’t forget that we get out at 1:30 on Friday March 20th to kick off Spring Break! Remember
to mark this on your calendar so our teachers can go home early as well.
Also we will be having a board meeting this Monday at 6:00 if any of you would like to attend.
PTA!!! I sent out an e-mail this week to see if anyone would be interested in getting involved in
a PTA here at school. I have received several responses back and it sounds like we will be kicking off
a PTA once we get back from Spring Break!!! I would like to set our first PTA Planning Meeting for Monday
April 6th. I’m not sure about the time yet but I thought 6:00 might work for everyone.
If you want to be involved and can’t make that date please let me know and we will see what we can do to change
things around. Please let me know if you are planning on being involved in this group so I can plan for
the right number of people! This is a really exciting and new opportunity for your students so I hope to
see as many of you there as possible!!! Just a final reminder
that we are still getting the Statesmen and have lots of copies available if you would like me to start sending one home daily
with your child.
