"From

Pennies for Patients starts next weeks so keep those students collecting their change! Just a reminder to parents also to talk to their students about how
they are doing in class. Third quarter ends in just a couple of weeks so the kids have some big tests and
assignments coming up. Also I wanted to let parents know that
we are planning on two more field trips this spring for the entire school. We will announce the dates latter
but in April we are planning on taking a trip to the Zoo and in May (if I can get it all scheduled and they are open) we would
like to take the kids caving in Shoshone Ice Cave and Shoshone Mammoth Cave. This should be something fun
to look forward to! Finally on a personal note I would just like
to ask for you prayers as I keep struggling (almost more than before) with my health. My husband keeps
reminding me that a healthy baby is my focus right now but it is still difficult for me to not be in my class all day everyday.
I am trying to balance things as much as possible and thank you all for your prayers and support. Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3 March is here and I was very happy to feel a balmy 65 degrees the other day! I am excited for spring. This week I have quite a few updates. The first is a reminder that March is the LAST month
for Book-It so please make sure your child is reading. Along the same lines, next Wednesday will be a special event
for Kindergarten and First Grade called “Reading with M Flight.” My husband has organized a special reading event for our younger children in which he and another airman from M flight will come and read to them. I am excited
for this event and so are they. On March 20th first
grade will have a half-day (so be sure to pick them up at 11:45) where they will combine with Kindergarten for some
fun with Mrs. Lawrence. Third through sixth grades will be going on a field trip to the Idaho Historical Museum
in Boise and then be released at 1:30. We will be eating at a local Subway. I have included the cost of lunch in the
overall field trip fee, however, I do ask that the students bring a water bottle or other drink so that they do not
need to purchase a drink at the restaurant. Students will be completing a short assignment as they peruse the
exhibits. This should be a very fun trip. If you haven’t already turned in a permission slip, please do so by
this tomorrow if at all possible.
One thing that I would like to change for my students is my policy
on quizzes and tests. My current policy is that students may retake any tests that have a score of 76 or below. They must
retake the test by the day that I write on that test. I will not remind them to retake it because it is their responsibility
to tell me when they are ready to retake the test (within the time frame I have written on the test). This policy remains
the same. What I am changing has to do with communication with home. While going through work to send home for sick students
this week I noticed that many tests and quizzes are not making it home. I have decided that in order to make sure that those
grades are being seen by parents, I will have parents sign each quiz and test sent home. Students will bring these signed
quizzes and tests back to school. From there I will try to let them know which ones should be kept and which may be thrown
away. Some of them do need to be kept because many questions from tests come right off of old quizzes and many nine-weeks
exam questions tend to come straight off of old tests. I hope this will help keep parents in the loop more on student grades
and also help students study for tests. Again, remember that this is my policy and Mrs. Lawrence does not have the same policy.
Let me know if you have any questions. I’d be glad to answer them.
On a final note, Kindergarten
students had a button day on Tuesday! They ate some yummy popcorn and did a neat puzzle. They had a great time. I hope that
everyone has a great weekend and that the weather continues to warm up! Yay!
I sent out an e-mail to all parents earlier, but I just wanted to see if anyone is available to substitute for me on May 22nd
and 26th. I have one volunteer, but need one more. If you could help with this, please let me know. Please remember to send a water bottle with your child to
school. Thank you for your cooperation!
Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3 Hello everyone!
We have had some lovely weather this week and then on Wednesday we get snow! Half of the students were excited about
the snow the other half like me can’t believe it snowed! Please remember to have your students bring a snack
and coats to class on Wednesdays as we do not have access to the fellowship hall on that day. On the 20th
some of my students are going on the field trip but the 1st graders will be staying at school. I have a wonderful fun day planned and I am so excited about it. We will do a craft, sing, and some other fun surprises. Have
a great weekend.
Hello
everyone! This week has been a wonderful week in my class! The students all brought back their signed Progress Reports
so they received a little treat this week. Thanks you so much for signing and returning the Progress Reports so
quickly. Just a reminder on Wednesdays we do not have access to the fellowship hall so students need to bring their
snack and coat to class for break. Have a great weekend!!
Administrative
Notes
Mrs. Colwell: Principal Well we have
several updates in the area this week. First I just wanted to remind everyone that we do have school
this Friday even though the public school is out.
Also we will be having a 1:30 early release on Friday March 20th to kick off Spring Break! Please
mark this on your calendar so our teachers can go home early as well. This Friday we will
not be having a hot lunch due to some other activities going on in the fellowship hall. This also means
that our students will be playing outside today and tomorrow while these events are going on so make sure to bundle them warm!
Finally we are still getting the Statesmen and have lots of copies available if you would like me to start sending
one home daily with your child.

Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Remember we have
Pennies for Patients coming up on March 9-13. We will be showing some videos during chapel on Monday to
talk a little bit about children who struggle with leukemia. Make sure to have your student start saving
their change for this drive so we can help other children in our area! Finally, the graduation meeting for seniors and their parents will be held at 6 PM tonight. Hope to
see you there.

Most of my updates actually went in an e-mail yesterday. I have had one parent respond to be on the emergency
sub list. Thank you to her. I also wanted to let you know that we have heard back from both the sailors and the soldiers that
we sent valentines to. They were all very appreciative and loved our valentines! It was so awesome to hear back from them.
I also want to remind all students to be reading hard for Book-It. We are nearing the end of the month already. Wow!
Today’s hot lunch is lumpia! If you forgot your
child’s $2 just send it in on Monday. Thanks! Please remember
to send a water bottle with your child to school. Thank you for your cooperation! Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3 Hello
everyone! It is great to be back. I really did miss my students. I want to say a big thank you for all your prayers while
I had Pneumonia and for those parents who subbed in my class. I also want to thank the students for the letters they wrote
to me. They were very sweet. Hopefully I am now fully recovered and the rest of the month goes better for me. Thanks again
for all the prayers and help in my classroom. Administrative Notes Mrs. Colwell: Principal We are now getting
several copies of the Statesman so if you would like your child to bring home a free newspaper please let us know!!! Thank you for sending hats and gloves with your students on Wednesday. We had a great recess outside. You could even
hear the birds chirping. Also remember that we have
another $2 hot lunch next Friday!

It sounds like our kids had a really great time in McCall on Monday so that is exciting!
Our next big event is going to be Pennies for Patients on March 9-13. We will be showing some videos during
our next chapel (Monday February 23rd) to talk a little bit about children who struggle with leukemia.
Pennies for Patients is a drive we will be doing in March to try and raise money for Idaho leukemia children.
I think this will be a great eye opener and a wonderful opportunity for our students to help other children who are
struggling with this illness. On Friday March 13th we will be doing a Hat Day in honor of these
children to finish out the week. Make sure to have your student start saving their change for this drive
so we can help other children in our area! Also for graduation… I need to have a meeting with
the parents of my seniors. I would like to meet in the evening next week for about 30 minutes.
The students have already created the schedule for graduation but I need a little parental input to finalize everything
and get the gowns and things ordered. Please let me know what night would be good for you. Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3 Happy Early Valentines Day! I sent an e-mail out yesterday explaining
the plan for our Valentines celebration. It did bounce back from one e-mail address so if you didn’t get the e-mail,
please e-mail the office and I’ll give you a call.
I hope that everyone enjoyed the McCall trip. I wanted to
say a big thank you to Mrs. Colwell for making all of the calls, e-mails, and arrangements to make it happen. Also, thank
you to the parents for the awesome help you gave us by driving and chaperoning!
The week is going by fast so I just wanted to update everyone
on a couple of things. One issue I would like to discuss is classroom behavior. I have noticed in the past few weeks that
the students are getting very chatty during class and during videos. Because this is distracting to both me and the other
children in the class, I have implemented a “3 strikes….you’re out” system. Students receive a warning
and 2 “strikes” for talking or other behavior problems. If the student receives another strike, he/she will receive
a detention. I feel that this system will give students enough opportunities to avoid a detention, but still holds them accountable.
My reason in sharing this is so that we can all be on the same page. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
I
also want to ask all students to be reading hard for Book-It. We are nearing the middle of the month already. Wow!
Finally, this week has been a challenge for me as I have been a lone
ranger of sorts for most of the week. The students have been very gracious and I am very thankful to Mrs. Hamilton and all
of the parents who have substituted this week. Please remember to send a water bottle with your child to school. The drinking fountain does not
look like it will be fixed this year. Thank you for your cooperation!
Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3 Please pray for Mrs. Lawrence as she has been
out very sick this week.
Administrative Notes Mrs. Colwell: Principal
Just a couple of reminders for next week. Remember that we are having a hot lunch tomorrow ($2 per person)
and that there is no school on Monday due to President’s Day. Also 3rd Quarter progress
reports will be coming home at the end of next week as well! Also we are now getting several copies of the Statesman so if you would like your child to bring
home a free newspaper please let us know!!! Finally it looks like we may need to do morning break outside on
Wednesday due to some activities going on in the Fellowship Hall so if you could remember to send your child with warm clothes
on Wednesday to play outside in we would really appreciate it!!!

Well our big news this week is the McCall Trip. I will
be attaching a document to the e-mail about this newsletter for all you parents who are coming with us. The
only change that we are making for this trip is to have your student bring money for lunch. I have tried
unsuccessfully for two weeks to find a location to eat our lunch so instead we will be eating at the Manchester Ice Rink.
They have a wide range of meals from $3.00 to about $10.00. Please make sure to
send your student with enough money for them to get a lunch that will hold them over till we get home. Also
don’t forget that we are meeting at the school at 6:45am for this trip and will be leaving promptly
at 7:00am. If you have any questions please feel free to get a hold of me!!!
Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3
Hello All!
I just have a few updates for this week. The first is that
library books were due on Tuesday. Our next library trip will not be until March. Second, please be looking for review sheets
coming home with your students. I send them home as often as is possible to give them study guidance. Finally, I am proud
to say that 6 students met their goals for their January Book-It reading! February time sheets went home on Tuesday. March
is the last month for Book-It so lets try for 100% participation this month. Thank you and enjoy the weekend! Don’t forget: …to send a water bottle with your student every day. Thank you for your cooperation with this. Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3 Hello
everyone! This Monday we had our in-house Spelling Bee! The students had a great time. I will send the winners out in our
e-mail so you know who they were! . After the Bee we got a chance to play some spelling games and watch
a movie. Our students also made Valentines for deployed troops in the afternoon with Mrs. Rubino!!! I just
want to thank everyone who helped with the bee and who brought in popcorn THANK YOU!!! I hope everyone has a wonderful 3-day
weekend.
