Mrs. Colwell: Room 2
Remember next Tuesday is our Thanksgiving Meal and we would love to have all of you
come and spend the afternoon with us! Mrs. Hamilton is planning this event so if you need more details
or would like to bring something just get a hold of her. The Food Drive has been going great this week! Remember tomorrow is the last day
for your child to bring food. Mrs. Rubino did our chapel this week and did a great job giving her testimony and talking about what
we need to do when we sin to make it right with God. It was an awesome refresher to me as I was reminded
what an awesome and gracious God we have! Finally, Room 2 spent the morning doing a little reorganizing as we organized the Shiloh Shed, cleaned
out our room and added three more computers to our classroom. These are older machines but they are better
than nothing so I am excited about that. Room 2 has been the focus this year in appearance and even though
we are still working on several things, we are getting there one step at a time. The kids were very helpful
and I think they like the idea of more computers in the room!
Mrs.
Rubino: Room
1 & Room 3 It’s holiday time so the food
drive is in full swing and I will be handing out parts for the Christmas program this week. If your student brings home a
blue folder with their part highlighted, please make sure that the folder comes back to school. Thanks! So far I’m thinking
that the skit will be a “reader’s theater” presentation. That means that the students will either memorize
their lines or read from the script. They will still act everything out but their only props will be each other. This will
minimize the amount of work needed to make sets etc. I would like this to be a fun, but low-key program.
Our program is scheduled for Tuesday December 16th at 6:30 pm.
Speaking of Christmas…during first week of December the Kindergartners will be doing an art project where they
will be making a manger scene. They each need a shoe box to do so. If anyone has a shoe box that they would
like to donate, please let me know. I will need three total. Thanks! Yesterday’s
library trip went very well. The students had a lot of fun, and were working on library voices. J The next library day will be Tuesday, December 2nd so that
we can get our books in on time but not run too close to Christmas. Thank you to all the parents who help with driving. The
students really enjoy library day, and it helps them get fun books so they can meet their Book-It time goals. Remember that
students need to turn in their November Book-It time sheets by Monday, December 1st at the latest. Read away! J J Remember to bring a water bottle J Mrs. Lawrence: Room
3 I am so excited for the upcoming holidays! I hope each of you can join us for the Thanksgiving Meal. Please
continue to have students bring their spelling bee lists to school each day. Also make sure they are working on them at home.
The spelling bee seems like it is far off but the time will fly and it will be here before we know it! If there is anyone
interested in coming in to help copy planners please let Mrs. Rubino or myself know so we can set up a schedule for that.
Thanks so much! Administrative Notes
Mrs. Colwell: Principal Just a short note… I
wanted to let you know that we will be having a 2:00 early release on Friday December 5th due
to teacher workshops. These types of releases will be happening every once in a while and we will make
sure to give you several weeks to prepare. Our Fall Fundraiser is going great and
we have several kids who have already met their overall goal of $160 sold! This event ends on Monday December
1st (right after we get back from Thanksgiving break). I have had several parents ask me if
donations are okay. That is GREAT! Remember that a donation counts as double for your
child since they earn 50% of all the jewelry they sell. This fundraiser is focused on helping your student
earn money for items rather than having mom and dad have to foot the bill. Again if you have any questions
just let me know! Also there will not be a newsletter next week
due to Thanksgiving!!! Mrs. Hamilton: Secretary/Board
Member
We are still waiting for a few more responses about the Thanksgiving Meal on Tuesday. Currently
we only have about four families attending so if you would like to come or bring anything please let me know.
Thanks!

“From the Teachers” Classroom Updates, Administrative Notes November 13th Newsletter Classroom
Updates
Mrs. Colwell: Room 2 Well winter is definitely
coming! We have been spending a lot of our recess time inside lately. The weather is
making me excited for the holidays and I can’t even believe that Thanksgiving is only two weeks away!!! In the classroom
things are really picking up this quarter so I have to say that having Tuesday at home was amazing (and I think my kids agree)
especially since we are in the middle of a big test week right now! The kids seem to be doing really well
in this set of test so far and I expect to see that trend continue!!! Our Student Council Food Drive is happening next week!!!
We are really excited about this opportunity to help our community! We will be compiling all the
food brought in from the week in one area where the kids can see how well they are doing! Remember, any
nonperishable items are great!!! We really want to remind our kids to be thankful for all we have and remember
to give with a happy heart to people who might not be as fortunate as ourselves. They just released the schedule
for the McCall Winter Carnival last week! It looks like we will probably be heading that direction on a
field trip between January 31st and February 8th. You can go to the website to see
more information on this event but it looks like they haven’t updated the events from last year yet so we will have
to wait another week or so to finalize our date. This is going to be an amazing and fun trip that every
Idaho student should make! http://mccallwintercarnival.com/index.php Mrs. Rubino: Room 1 & Room 3 I can almost smell
Thanksgiving! Hee hee, Just kidding. Actually, I’m really excited for the coming holidays as my husband and I will be
traveling home and spending time with friends and family. This week I don’t have a lot of updates, but I do have a couple
of reminders. The first is to continue to send a water bottle to school with your child. Thank you so much for helping out
with that. The second is for my afternoon volunteers. Thank you soooo much for all that you do to help me out. I was wondering,
though, if possible you could try to give me advance notification (the day before or morning of) if you aren’t going
to be there so that I can plan accordingly. However, I do understand when urgent items come up and this isn’t always
a possibility. Thank you again for all you do! Next Library Day = Tuesday, November 18th. Don’t forget to bring your library card. J Mrs.
Lawrence:
Room 3
This week has flown by since we had Tuesday off. I hope everyone got to enjoy the day off! The ladies Bible study that
has been going on in the fellowship hall is over. Students no longer need to bring their coats and snacks to class on Wednesday.
Thanks so much for all your cooperation with that. I hope all the older students are studying for the spelling bee. Please
have your child bring the spelling words to class each day. Lastly I just want to thank the parents who came out to the parent
teacher conferences. Also I want to thank Mrs. Crowe for cooking us dinner. It was very yummy! (Mrs. Colwell and Mrs. Rubino
second this!!!!! We loved her cooking!) Administrative Notes
Mrs. Colwell: Principal Well our board meeting on Monday night went great!
We would love to see any of you there that would like to come. This is a great way to really get
to know this school from the inside out and also to help be involved in shaping the school your child attends.
Our board meetings are the second Monday of each month at 6:00pm. Also the Fall Fundraiser has been going for a little over a week now and many of the kids are doing
great! Several of our students have made their $160 or are very close. Just a reminder
to parents that this fundraiser’s intent is to help your child raise money for items rather than parents feeling the
full brunt of some of these costs. I also want to encourage you that if you have any questions or concerns
please feel free to get a hold of me. We are having a lot of fun with this event and our next big prize
day for the biggest seller of the week is Monday!!! Also remember to check our “Event Calendar” link as we are always updating this page
with events for the next two months. Mrs. Hamilton: Secretary/Board Member
The planners are coming along. The daily helpers for Mrs. Rubino are working well. Thanks so much for your help. We
do need another Friday lunch provided at your convenience. There is a fund for the purchase of food, if you desire. Just let
me know. Below are the combined responses to the Thanksgiving Dinner. If you are not going to be
here, please let me know. Thanksgiving Dinner:

Classroom Updates
Mrs. Colwell: Room 2
Let me start by saying that today I am in Twin
Falls at an ACSI training but will be back for parent teacher conferences tonight! We are all really excited
about getting to see each of you tonight from 4-6pm. With all of the election stuff happening this week we have spent a lot of time watching political speeches
in room 3 (Conventions, Saddleback Interviews, Victories, Concessions). Most of the students have strong
opinions but I have been really excited to see them get involved in this event and loved their eagerness to learn about each
candidate and what they stood for. Our Student Council is also going to be putting on a Food Drive right before Thanksgiving.
You and your student will be getting more information on this but during the week of November 17-21 we would like every
student to bring in nonperishable items to donate. We think this will be a fun event during a time when
we are all thinking about being thankful for what we having and giving to others. We are also planning another field trip.
In late January or early February we are going to be taking a trip to the McCall Winter Carnival! The
kids are really excited about this trip and we should be coming out with more details, an exact date, and permission slips
in the next several weeks! Don’t forget that tomorrow is a 1:30 release!!!
Mrs. Rubino: Room
1 & Room 3
This has proven to be an eventful week with voting polls in the Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, a special treat for the
students (watching the Veggie Tales Jonah movie), a dusting of snow on the hills, conferences tonight, and early release tomorrow!
Thank you for continuing to send a water bottle with your student to school. It has really cut down on time out of class trying
to find a way to get a drink for everyone. Fall weather is starting to turn cold so don’t forget to send a coat with
your kiddos. J
I wanted to remind everyone about our Book-It program. Prizes were awarded to several first-graders for meeting their
reading goal for October!! The November time sheet was sent home so continue to encourage your children to rise to the occasion.
I’d especially like to see the older students meet their goal this month.
Finally, I am working on getting a very low-key Christmas program together. I may need some parental help putting it
on, though. For example, there will be a short skit and I could use some help creating costumes. Let me know if you are handy
in the craft department and would be available to help. Thanks! Next Library Day = Tuesday, November 18th;
If your books are overdue, you can renew them online.
Mrs. Lawrence: Room 3
The students again have memory
verses coming up and I want everyone to be prepared for them. The students did so well last time! 1st
Grade Psalm 34:14-19 Due Lesson 63 3rd Grade Hebrews 11:16-19 Due Lesson 61 4th Grade Isaiah 53:7-12 Due Lesson 61 6th Grade Mark 8:34-38 Also don’t forget to encourage the older students to study their spelling bee words! Parent teacher conferences
are today and I am looking forward to being able to sit down and talk with you all.
Administrative Notes
Mrs. Colwell: Principal
We
kicked off the Fall Fundraiser on Monday! We had a prize for whoever sold the most in the first day and
had a student come in with $92 in sales on Tuesday morning! We will be handing out prizes every Monday
morning for the biggest seller of the previous week. Remember we want kids to go out and sell rather than
put the financial strain on the parents to purchase product. Our student council is running this event
and they are doing a great job! Last week I talked a little about our Board. Our
next board meeting is Monday night at 6:00pm. These are usually the second Monday of each month and are
wonderful and informative meetings to be a part of. We are also currently looking for more board members
so if you would like to serve in this capacity please feel free to get a hold of Evanna Hamilton and get an application.
We hope to see some of you there!!! Also please keep us in your prayers as we are currently working
on a lead that would help us get 6-20 newer computers for our school and maybe some other technology as well for FREE!
I have been filling out paperwork like a mad woman and we are really excited about this opportunity. Hopefully
in the near future we can provide your students with even more advantages in the classroom!
